Golf Course & Estate Supervisor


Background and scope

Directs, manages and ensures proper maintenance and the development of Karen Country Club golf course and estate.


This is a professional position involving managerial responsibilities and advanced technical knowledge in golf course design and maintenance but must also anticipate and implement all golf course maintenance practices as such, this is a “hands on” position requiring participation in many daily tasks while managing the ground staff.

Main Responsibility
  • Prepare plans, organize and implement the proper maintenance of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, trees, water hazards and all other parts of the estate
  • Prepare and direct total maintenance program, assigning tasks to subordinate staff, and evaluating their performance.
  • Prepare and present budgets to the Golf committee through the Director and ensure that the budget is administered correctly.
  • Responsible for the selection of capital improvement projects.
  • Analyze disease, insect and other turf grass stress problems, select and apply solutions to resolve problems.
  • Manages and ensures proper maintenance of complex irrigation system for golf course.
  • Installs redesigns and modifies system as necessary. Performs and supervises electrical and plumbing repairs of the system.
  • In charge and directs the usage of all the agrochemicals and fertilizers on the golf course.
  • Monitors store operations and keeping its records thus controls fuel and materials usage.
  • Ensures safety within and without the workshop area as well as instructing the machine operators on safety, efficient operation and care of the machines.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Formal Qualifications in Green keeping/ Turf Management
  • At least 5 years’ experience in green keeping gained at a selection of top class golf courses.
  • Must be a Certified Agrochemicals user and possess training in Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge on the game of golf
  • Knowledge of the use of turf and landscaping equipment including tractors, mowers, strimmers, electric motors, pumps, sprinklers and Irrigation systems with particular emphasis on Toro machines.
  • Experience in preparation of courses to PGA tournament standards and maintenance of sand based greens
  • Experience in building tees, greens and bunkers
  • Excellent communication, analytical, planning and reporting skills.
