Life Sciences Organisation Application Specialist Job in Kenya

Our client is a leading organisation in the Life Sciences market that provides equipment, consumables and application including human identification, infectious diseases, biodiversity, influenza, epidemiology, quality and safety testing in food and environment.   
They are seeking to fill the position of Application Specialist

Education & Experience
  • Must have a minimum qualification of a Master’s of Science or PhD degree
  • At least five (5) years’ work experience in Molecular biology
  • Must have a strong understanding of Life Sciences instruments, consumables and applications
Technical Competencies
  • Deep technical background to be able to engage researchers and scientists, helping to design and trouble shoot workflows and testing across a wide range of applications such as such as Human Identification, Forensics, Food Security, Disease Research, Plant Sciences and Animal Health.
  • Deliver on applications support activities in territory to ensure rapid integration of assays and instruments into customer facilities: plan and oversee the integration process, recommend the appropriate lab configuration and good molecular practice, and assist customers in meeting their regulatory and validation requirements
  • Ability to develop and troubleshoot a work flow to meet the targets of the projects
  • Ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction and loyalty to the products we sell
  • Enable sales team to maximize instrument and consumable sales
  • Must be aware of the overall scientific and technological advancements of the global biotechnology industry.
Business Skills
  • Assist the Business unit manager to establish quarterly forecasts
Leadership Skills
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure efficiency of support and enable leads to be developed into final sales
Travel
  • Will be required to travel consistently within the Territory which the company represents, namely Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Rwanda and Burundi
  • Will be required to attend overseas training when necessary
Communication Skills
  • Engage in conversations with researchers, scientists and laboratory managers to promote sale of instruments and consumables
  • Communicate in simple terms to decision-makers why they need the instruments and consumables
  • Strong oral and written communication skills – e.g. assist in develop proposals for scientists
  • Strong computer literacy skills
