NGO jobs in Kisumu-World Vision Kenya

World Vision Kenya is a leading non-governmental Christian humanitarian, relief, development and advocacy organization with projects in most parts of Kenya. 
We wish to urgently recruit highly competent, proactive and self-driven people to fill the following positions within our organization.

1. Project Manager – Yes Youth Can
 
To be based in Kisumu
 
Purpose of the positions:
 
To provide the operational leadership and management direction needed to successfully promote suitable and sustainable Youth Engagement and Empowerment interventions in all Counties in Nyanza within Lake Sub Branch.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish operational priorities and monitor performance targets for the respective Technical Specialists, Project Officers, and Yes Youth Can proposal and other requirements.
  • Direct the successful implementation of the YYC project in the 3 targeted Integrated Programme Areas (IPAs) within the sub branch.
  • Enable targeted IPAs within the respective sub branch to successfully achieve or surpass set targets in the YYC project.
  • Provide effective leadership to all project staff within the sub branch both at the sub branch office as well as the IPA level.
  • Establish and consolidate a working culture – based in management principals – that consistently achieves and/or surpasses established targets and standards.
  • Impart appropriated mentoring; coaching and supervision in order to equip, motivate and empower the project staff most of who will be new to World Vision.
  • Representation with donor, government of Kenya officials, private sector, civil society groups, including faith-based groups and youth associations.
  • Ensure timely and effective implementation of all project interventions as well as the successful achievement of proposed outcomes and intended impacts.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate utilization of the budgeted project resources.
  • Ensure that all projects at the targeted IPAs achieve acceptable financial and operational audit results by implementing interventions in accordance with established norm and policies.
  • Ensure that all the projects within targeted IPAs design implement and evaluate in accordance with donor standards.
  • Ensure that YYC Project staff meet or exceed donor performance and compliance expectations.
  • Ensure that all the YYC Project staff development activities, including appraisals, performance agreements, monitoring and needed training and mentoring activities are successfully carried out and:
  • Ensure that the project officers at the IPAs are successfully engaging with key internal and external stakeholders, including other WVK entities (Finance, People & Culture), Donor representatives as well as community, government, church and other civil society representatives especially youth groups and associations in order to maximize the impact of our efforts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must have a Master’s university degree in a relevant field from arecognized university.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience with regards to the designing, planning, and implementation, supervising and reporting on integrated development relief and/or advocacy project.
  • They should have at least 5 years as a manager.
  • Experience in livelihoods development programming.
  • Knowledge of USAID regulations and requirements
  • The holder of this position must be a results-oriented leader who is able to handle a heavy workload as well as manager accountable and responsible to the donor and other stakeholders.
  • Proficient in written and spoken Kiswahili and English is required
2. Senior Response Manager
To be based in Dadaab
 
Purpose of the positions:
 
To provide Disaster Management with a bias on refugee and host response through strategic leadership, management and coordination of the World Vision Kenya Dadaab Response
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Mobilize and sustain support from the World Vision Partnership and donor organizations for the humanitarian operations.
  • Actively participate in key humanitarian meetings and network with humanitarian partners including donors and UN agencies at the Dadaab level.
  • Networking, strategy refinement and further development, team management, programme management, capacity building, collaboration, coordination and resource mobilization and management.
  • Ensure effective integration of the emergency and longer term development programme and ensure that communities are able to detect, mitigate against, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.
  • Build up and ensure a sustainable level of humanitarian and emergencies capacity remains in the Dadaab Response Programme.
  • Ensure quality of WV emergency response engagement including appropriate structures, internal and external standards, staffing, resources and policies for emergency preparedness, response, mitigation and transition management are in place which correspond to internal and external standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • An understanding and experience working with the WV Partnership.
  • Strong commitment to WV’s vision, mission and core values
  • Minimum of 10 years in leadership and operational humanitarian experience, preferably in Africa
  • Minimum of Masters degree in Development Studies; Agriculture/Social Studies or related field
  • Understands and values diversity and maximizes diversity to achieve organizational goals – has the right attitude to value, listen to and build on local capacities.
  • Proven experience in the following areas: Refugees, Donors, food security, health, nutrition and HIV/AIDS; education, child and women’s rights, agriculture; water; contracts/agreements and protocols; government-donor-UN relationships; conflict transformation, advocacy
  • Proficiency in French and English required (essential to have a working level of French language with a willingness to improve).
  • Strong experience in setting up or scaling up multi sectoral relief programmes
  • Knowledge of SPHERE, LCP and other programming tools
3. Stores Officer
To be based in Nairobi
 
Purpose of the positions:
 
To coordinate material control functions to ensure effective receiving, storage, retrieval, delivery, and materials accountability systems to support the organization’s objectives, in accordance with laid down
systems, procedures and guidelines while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify, classify and code all items promptly and accurately
  • Maintain an updated database of assets acquired for WVK in each financial year
  • Liaise with relevant user departments on disposal of obsolete and scrap materials/assets
  • Ensure goods are received on time, properly packaged and as per specifications in LPO
  • Issues stocks to user department (WASH) as and when required
  • In liaison with user departments (WASH) raise goods received note for items received and submit the same to accounts for payment purposes.
  • Organise quarterly stock takes in liaison with finance dept. and provide a record of physical balances for comparison with the ledger and prepare stock take reconciliation report
  • Inform users on receipt of goods
  • Ensure goods are dispatched on timely basis and maintain accurate records of all stock movements on relevant documentation
  • Liaise with transporters and field offices to confirm full and timely delivery of dispatched goods
  • Action on purchase requisition forms assigned mainly for procurement of services that will include staff flights to WVK projects, procure services for vehicle and motor cycle maintenance and tyres
  • Prepare monthly stores issue report for the purpose of cost centre charging to accounts dept.
  • Carry out reconciliation for consumable stores managed by the out sourced service provider
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Degree in purchasing and supplies or stores/warehouse management or related field
  • Member of CIPS or KISM
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in stores/ warehousing and inventory/asset management
  • Familiarity with supply chain processes and procedures
  • Good Interpersonal and Public relations skills
